Then And Now (Meridian documentary, 1973)

"At the end of 2001 a programme was devoted to buses and coaches. New footage was interspersed with archive film.

Shots of the modern Canterbury scene included various Stagecoach East Kent Mercedes, Olympians and Titans and an Alexander PS-bodied Volvo B10M. Most of the filming was done on Stagecoach's preserved East Kent AEC Regent V MFN 946F. Of the buses in the background Leyland Olympian/Northern Counties K825TKP could be identified. Archive footage of East Kent coaches included GJG634D, MJG44 and WFN501 plus Southdown JCD89.

The programme also included preserved Southdown 'Queen Mary' Leyland Titan PD3/Northern Counties BUF279C travelling from Farlington depot to Pool Valley bus station in Brighton for the Brighton Corporation 100th anniversary event on 30 Sept 2001. Much of the filming must have been done in the morning - it was
tipping down with rain when I was there in the afternoon! Background shots included a Brighton and Hove Dennis Dart/Marshall, an Airlinks Plaxton Premiere, a Coastline Olympian/Alexander and a Guide Friday Leyland Atlantean. Close ups of preserved vehicles at the event were of former Southdown Leyland Tiger Cub XUF141, Surrey Motors' AEC Regal PPF492 and one-time Maidstone and District Leyland Titan PD2 NKT875.
Archive footage included a Provincial Guy Arab, and Southdown Queen Mary Leyland Titan FCD 294D.

The third segment featured Woodhams of Ryde's (Isle of Wight) preserved Bedford OB, CCF648. Other bits of archive film included within the programme were of a Southern Vectis Bristol Lodekka (said to have been filmed in 1984) and a Southern Vectis Bristol RELL/ECW single-deckers from the TDL-K batch. There was also background footage of various RTs and RMs in service in central London."
(thanks Graeme Selway - and thanks to Phil Blair for identifying his PD3 BUF279C)
