Joseph Haydn

Oxford, England - A Musical Visit to the Town and University (DVD,1993)

Views of the city of Oxford and some of its significant buildings, with a soundtrack provided by the music of Joseph Haydn, specifically his 'Oxford' Symphony and 'Surprise' Symphony. The street scenes are typical of the time. City of Oxford 499 (HUD499W) is seen twice: first leading two Leyland Olympians and then moving away moves down the High away from the camera. It's a dual doored Bristol VRTSL3 with Eastern Coachworks body:
Another City of Oxford VRTSL3/Eastern Coachworks moves out of Cornmarket Street, while a Thames Transit Mercedes 709D waits at Carfax:
A City of Oxford Leyland Olympian/Eastern Coachworks approaches along Cornmarket:
Thames Transit 339 (F409KOD), a Mercedes 709D/Reeve Burgess, is seen in the High:
There are two views of Thames Transit Ikarus-bodied Leyland Tigers in Oxford Tube livery:
A City of Oxford City Link Leyland Tiger/Plaxton turns at Carfax:
Two Thames Travel Mercedes 709Ds, still in Red Admiral livery from their previous operator:
The distant VRTSL3 seen from the other end of Cornmarket is Oxford Bus 507 (KJO507W) in an advertising livery for Radio Oxford:
A traffic jam typical of the time at Carfax: an Oxford Bus Leyland Olympian queues behind a Thames Travel Mercedes minibus, which itself is waiting for a second Olympian to turn into Cornmarket. It can't do that because of the convoy turning from St Aldates into the High - a Thames Travel Mercedes 811D/Carlyle, an Oxford Bus Leyland Tiger/Plaxton and an Oxford Bus MCW Metrorider in green City Nipper colours:
In the event the Metrorider holds back to allow the lead Olympian to turn; meanwhile the Mercedes is revealed as H102HDV, new to Red Admiral:
A glimpse of a Guide Friday sightseeing opentopper - KHC817K, a Leyland Atlantean/East Lancs new to Eastbourne Transport:
Contrasting Oxford Bus vehicles - a Leyland Olympian/Eastern Coachworks follows a City Nipper MCW Metrorider:
Congestion in Cornmarket - an Oxford Bus Olympian overtakes a a VRTSL3 still in National Bus Company red, followed by another VRTSL3, a Metrorider, and a MCW Metrobus of Motts of Aylesbury:
Another Carfax shot of an Oxford Bus VRTSL3 about to turn into Cornmarket while a Metrorider waits to enter St Aldates:
The Oxford Classic Tour's BFS49L was new to Edinburgh Transport, but was operated in Oxford by Tappins Coaches. It's followed by Oxford Bus 611 (RFC11T), a Leyland Leopard which began life with a Duple body on the Oxford London express service. It was rebodied with a Willowbrook Warrior bus body for less arduous work:
An Oxford Bus Optare MetroRider at the Plain, with another in the background:
