Sequel to the 1995 original featuring all the main four ‘Skag Boys’, this time set more on location in Edinburgh itself - unlike the original, which had Glasgow double for Edinburgh!
Most establishing shots of Edinburgh will usually feature a number of Lothian Buses, now in the form of Volvo B7TL or B9TL Geminis, as well as the odd Dennis Trident Plaxton President. This can be especially noted on a (sadly cut) homage to the infamous running scene up Princes Street, featuring Renton (played by Ewan McGregor) and ‘Spud’ Murphy (played by Ewan Brenmer) escaping from security guards, the latter having stolen an iPad. Here, multiple Gemini’s and Plaxton Presidents pass by in the backgrounds of the scene.
In a scene where Renton and ‘Sick Boy’ (played by Johnny Lee Miller) run across the Forth Road Bridge almost naked, seen on grainy CCTV footage is a passing Stagecoach in Fife Volvo B9R Plaxton Profile coach on an express service of some sort.
One pivotal set of scenes though, in which two of the characters arrive and then escape from a block of flats in Greendykes following a pivotal confrontation, directly features a Lothian bus as a means of getting the characters in and out of the area - namely, Lothian’s 364 (SN11 EBP, Volvo B9TL Wright Eclipse Gemini 2) on a 14 to Greendykes, possibly the same bus between the scenes.
