David Shields (Jackson) becomes a ship designer in the Clyde shipyards and ultimately marries the boss's daughter (Anderson). Life imitated art, as the stars married in 1951 and remained together until Jackson's death in 1990. In the movie Shields travels by Glasgow tram to his new lodgings:

A later scene shows a tram passing two prewar Central SMT lowbridge Leyland Titans. The registration plate on the leading vehicle is unclear, but it's VDxxxx, indicating a TD4 or a TD5.:
